How customers opt in to texts

Restaurants that use our service take orders by phone through an automated assistant. Consent to text messages is collected by voice at the end of the call, after the order is read back. This page shows the exact wording. The assistant says the restaurant's own name where [Restaurant Name] appears.

What the customer hears

Ordering assistant“Want text coupons and deals from [Restaurant Name]? Up to 15 texts a month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP anytime to opt out, or HELP for help. Terms and privacy are at harborbrands dot us.”

The question is asked while the assistant already has the caller's name and the phone number they are calling from. That is the number that would receive the texts.

Only a clear yes counts

Nothing is pre-selected. The assistant waits for the customer's own answer.

Yes: we record the phone number, name, answer, date and time, and keep the call recording as proof of consent. A confirmation text is sent right away.
No, or no clear answer: the customer is not texted.

Consent is separate from the order and from any other agreement. It is not a condition of purchase.
